This SAGD heavy oil plant is estimated to have a 35 year project life and peak production of more than 30,000 barrels per day of bitumen, treat 120,000 bbl/day of produced water and generate 90,000 bbl/day of 100% quality steam. The proximity of this plant, 40 km northwest of Cold Lake, Alberta allows Husky’s transmission pipeline system to transport the diluted bitumen to its heavy oil upgrader located in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan to be processed into premium synthetic crude.
The overall project was a lump sum contract between Husky Energy and a joint venture partnership between SNC-Lavalin and PCL Industrial Management Inc. Monad provided the direct hire labour to complete the construction of concrete foundations and slabs, erection of pipe rack and equipment modules, setting of equipment and vessels, installation of miscellaneous structural steel, mechanical completion and installation and testing of piping systems. Monad, along with the client were very pleased to have this project turned over ahead of schedule.
