EPCOR has taken the initiative to pre-treat plant backwash water in anticipation of new federal water discharge regulations. Sodium Bi-Sulfate (SBS), to neutralize and reduce chlorine content, is added to non-sewage plant waste water prior to being discharged into the North Saskatchewan River.
To facilitate the mechanical portion of the construction work, Monad installed 28 small conveyance pumps, two PVC storage tanks, two unit heaters, a scrubber and approximately 2700 meters of 2" and 1" PVC piping to deliver the SBS to the waste water. All work was executed in an operating facility where good housekeeping is emphasized. The contract is with PCL Construction Management Inc. and valued at approximately $1.5 M.
